This is an amazing coming of age story narrated by 3 sisters living in Europe during WWII Each sister is a strong character and not like her sisters Each woman must try to make her way in a war torn world, adapting from a comfortable life of leisure to one of rations and brutality.I really enjoyed that each sister narrated parts of the book so you got to see the other sisters through her perspective I also love the viewpoint of young women in London during the war Great book Very glad I read it [...]

Compelling profile of 3womenThe story is set in Europe and England during the first part of WWII It is the profile of 3 women who happen to be sisters You get a real feeling for the war without drowning in it and the women s lives are fully and colorfully portrayed I want to read from this author.

WAY better than I expected Not that I had any expectations, particularly, because I wasn t familiar with the author at all, but from what little I knew ahead of time I expected a sort of Squishy Period Piece About the Power of Family and Love And hoo boy The characters are excellently complicated, flawed in ways that are relatable but steer shy of cliche, and it s fascinating to watch them figure themselves out and grow even if you hate the direction in which that growth occurs I haven t read mu [...]

And Mr Gabriel does it again I started with The Designer when I was introduced to this author and that definitely left me wanting At first, I wasn t sure how Wish Me Luck was going to play out, but the story of three sisters, so different in personality and perspective, living through and surviving World War II in their own way, impacted me hard Gabriel left me heartbroken by the end I personally cant wait to read the second book.

Captivating Historical fiction that make this a wonderful read The author writes in a way that makes it hard to put the book down I could do without the intimate sections and would prefer to leave the details to the imagination They are easy to skip through and continue reading.

The first book about the three Redcliffe sisters.Parallels here with the Mitford sisters An interesting story starting during the Spanish Civil War Three sisters and their complex relationships set with the backdrop of WW2 Love and betrayalspiesfascists and disillusionment I enjoyed getting to know the characters and am looking forward to the second book.

Enjoyable I love historical fiction and I love the stories from the WWII era Characters well fleshed out and I liked them so than others though This is book 1 in a 2 series book I enjoyed this book enough to read book 2

Evocative period pieceThe author successfully brings the sense of the times to this story, and his understanding of the complex and sometimes troubling relationship of siblings runs thru the story adding depth.

Really enjoyed the book, but the one very graphic scene came as a bit of a shock, and I felt was rather unnecessary and not in tone with the book Otherwise it would have been 4 stars.

Mr Gabriel is a wonderful storyteller His characters are so wonderful even when we are hating them This book is so good, I had to read the sequel.
