    • Being a new reader to Joy Fielding s work, I was not sure what to expect of Charley s Web , and was less than thrilled when I read the synopsis At the library I would have steered clear from this book giving it a cursory glance and resuming my search You see, as a reader I have this growing apprehension about reading novels where the main character is a reporter You might be asking yourself why and to be perfectly honest I don t know the answer in my reading world it just is what can I say I m a [...]

    • It s hard to like a book when the main character is not like able She even admits it That she puts up walls and is not friendly with anyone She doesn t even speak to her co workers She has embarrassed neighbors with her columns and thinks nothing of it For God s sake, Lynn What did you expect Charley interrupted, annoyed at having to defend herself I m a reporter You know that This sort of story is right up my alley Of course I m going to write about it So she s not friendly with anyone, Well ex [...]

    • 3.0 out of 5 stars 3 stars for Fielding s latest, August 27, 2008This review is from Charley s Web A Novel Hardcover This was a novel that, despite its predictability, provided enough depth and entertainment to keep me reading even after I had figured out the denouement The story a convicted child killer wants a book written about the crimes and holds out some tantalizing information that she may not have acted alone though she was the only one tried, convicted and put on death row I had to susp [...]

    • This was the first book I ve read by this author My mother recommended her to me and I m glad she did Although about two thirds of the way through I had the identity of Jill s partner figured out I still enjoyed the book.Charley Webb has a column in the local paper She tells about her life, beauty secrets, whatever she wants to talk about for the week It is very popular and she gets loads of email both good and bad.Jill Rohmer, a convicted child murderer, is on death row and contacts Charley abo [...]

    • I was singularly unimpressed with this book, and I was puzzled by this as I have read other books by Fielding which I thoroughly enjoyed I found the writing style and the lack of flow the story was told in increments with a rather disconnected jumping from idea to idea somewhat disconcerting, but the real reason I didn t care for and didn t choose to finish the book is that I could summon up no empathy for, nor any interest in, any of the characters, beginning with Charley Webb herself I don t c [...]

    • I REALLY enjoyed this book I read a lot of mysteries, and this kept me engrossed and guessing up until the last moment. The main character is a reporter with the Palm Beach Post, and the emails she receives from the readers of her column are interspersed throughout the book, and were interesting to read.I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a suspenseful mystery with engaging characters and great writing.

    • I forget how much I love her books until I start reading one and don t want to put it down Although in this one even though I kept second guessing myself I knew who the bad dude was I promised myself to stop going to the library so much so, on to see if I have another of her books on my shelves Nope I m not organized at alln t judge me

    • This WAS a good story and I enjoyed it BUT one crashing mistake cost it 5 for me as it just wasn t acceptable Yes, these days of e books you need to get used to errors as the care isn t taken in presentation by the publishers but this book is titled Charley s Web and the main heroine is called Charley YET at one point her name was written as Charlie Now, why the hell nobody spotted that when it managed to smack me in the face I ll never know but it made a huge difference to my reading. As usual w [...]

    • Not my favorite Joy Fielding story, but was definitely time well spent Initially, I had a difficult time liking Charley She comes across as very unapproachable and harsh But after spending time with her, I was able to see beneath the hard exterior that surrounds her At first glance, you see a woman who is career driven, raising two children by two different men on her own, is estranged from her family, disliked by her neighbors and disrespected by her boss and coworkers What ultimately emerges i [...]

    • I was surprised at how much I liked this I don t think I ve ever read anything from Joy Fielding before at least, for which I can remember her as the author , and I wasn t expecting anything than your average thriller But it was that and It was better written than I d anticipated, and where some of these have somewhat unrealistic dialog, that wasn t the case here The plot grabbed me right away and I want it on the record that I knew whodunit about 3 4 of the way through but was never certain u [...]

    • I absolutely loved this book Had me completely engrossed from the very first line Hey, Charley Just a brief note to let you know that aside from being THE WORST COLUMNIST WHO EVER LIVED you are quite THE MOST SELF ABSORBED WOMAN ON THE PLANET What s not to love about a mystery that starts like that Everything I really enjoyed reading this.Charley Charlotte Webb, mother of two Franny and James is a controversial journalist for the Palm Beach Post that s always stirring up an assortment troublesom [...]

    • I read this book a long time ago, but for some reason never reviewed it here on before now Perhaps I did not belong to this club when I read this book I am a huge fan of Joy Fielding She has written some really great books, this being one of them Although, I found the subject matter very distasteful child abuse , I read the book anyway I have been known to put books down that contain either child abuse or animal abuse, but this book does us the favor of not dwelling on that subject matter, but r [...]

    • I enjoy Joy Fielding and again in search of something by the same author I found Charley s Web Whether it s solid character development, again convincing points of view or just suspense that appeals to you, a thrilling quick round of a suspenseful whodunit Charley s plausible life, her self fashioned personal column articles from her personal experiences make this seamlessly intriguing reading, well worth picking up for a fast read.

    • I just happen to love Joy Fielding She has the best suspense fiction and I was hooked immediately to the story when I started listening I was so engrossed by the story that I had forgot that it was a whodunit so it was nearly the end of the book before I realized I needed to try and figure out who did it It was a quick read for me, and if you enjoy suspense then you will enjoy this book

    • Yeah, it s complete mindless popcorn, but it s skillful mindless popcorn And a very fast read And even though I thought I d figured out the villain s identity, I hadn t.

    • Thrillers and crime novels simply aren t my thing I don t care about what happens at all and life is too short to read books that don t capture your attention.

    • Charley Webb is a journalist with a big attitude and no friends. One day she receives a letter from an inmate, one Charley herself has written about in her own article Jill Rohmer, convicted child abuser and murderer, currently awaiting the death penalty Jill s gushing letter claims she s a huge fan, and she wants Charley, and only Charley, to write a book about Jill in exchange for Jill s absolute honesty about everything including the rumors of working with a partner.Although Charley has never [...]

    • Charley Webb is a single mother and a writer for a large newspaper and she gets many emails about what she has to say But when she receives a letter from Jill Rohmer, a young woman serving time on death row for the murders of three small children, her boundaries slowly begin to fade When threats start targeting her son and daughter, Charley races against time to save her family I found this book very entertaining but also a real rollercoaster ride when Charley begins her journey into the mind of [...]

    • I ve had this book on my desk for over a year, and only because I m out sick from work, with no access to the library did I pick it up Surprise It s well written and compelling I wasn t fond of learning about the psych of a child murderer and thankfully Joy Fielding did not go into extreme detail It is a book about family, lack of family, forgiveness in the form of a mystery A psychological thriller I started it, debated continuing, and then read right on through Four stars And now I m going to [...]

    • An above average thriller that has an engaging main character in Charley While it s obvious that Jill has some sort of agenda Jack s identity isn t hard to work out, the story has enough twists turns to keep you guessing as to whether she is an evil child killer or herself a victim.but you ll have to read it yourself to find out the truth

    • Joy Fielding is a new author for me and I am sure glad my sister introduced me to her books This is the second one that I have read this summer, and she has not disappointed me yet Many reviews stated Charley was a hard character to like, however I liked her from the start This is a quick read worth opening.

    • This was one of the best books I have ever read As a avid reader I must say I hate fillers of scenery and surroundings , some is needed yet most fill to much , you set the balance to a tee I will be searching out of your books
